Early sessions use lower heat to slow and thin hair growth, with only a slight to medium pinch depending on hair density.
Our professional therapists ensure you feel informed, supported, and at ease throughout.
If you normally wax or epilate you will need to stop waxing/epilating 4-6 weeks before your first laser hair removal session to ensure we have full follicles ready to treat.
No tan - real or otherwise and lightly exfoliate approx 10 days before your first session.
Do not apply any moisturiser, cream, oil or lotion to the treatment area for 2 days before. You can use aloe Vera if the skin is sensitive or irritated from shaving.
You will need a close shave of the area the as close to the time where there is no visible stubble.

This is individual. Listed is an average amount of laser sessions for someone who has pale skin, dark hair that is dense, has no underlying medical issues and attends for their sessions and top up sessions at the time gap given to them.
- Face 6-12 Sessions (Most difficult area to treat, due to hair being finer, hormonal area and the amount of follicles present)
- Bikini and Underarm: 6-10 (Labia is one of the most difficult areas here, due to skin colour being darker and a different texture)
- Large areas, legs/arms etc 6-10 (Knees, Upper thighs due to thick skin on knees or finer hairs on thighs)
- Mans Back/Chest 12-15 sessions due to hair being very strong, coarse and resilient to laser.
After these sessions maintenance sessions are required, most people will need an average of 2-3 maintenance sessions a year.
Alexanderite Lasers penetrate deeper into tissues to specifically target hair structures. Alex 755nm, NdYAG1064nm and Diode 810nm penetrate approximately 4-5mm specifically design to target hair structures, while most IPL’s (Intense Pulsed Light) only target 2mm which is not deep enough to target these structures effectively.
These lasers have more advanced cooling systems meaning more comfortable treatments.
Sessions typically start every 4–6 weeks, with 4 weeks for the face and 6 weeks for the body. Gaps may extend to 6–10 weeks as hair thins. Your therapist will assess and recommend the best schedule for you.
Laser hair removal provides permanent reduction, but not 100% removal of every follicle. Over time, coarse hair becomes soft, thin, and light, with some areas completely cleared and others having sporadic fine hairs. Top-up treatments, typically once or twice a year, help maintain results.
Tanning, sun exposure and fake tan
Tanning is not recommended during laser hair removal as it can affect the number of sessions needed and overall results. Tanning stimulates melanin, requiring a 8-10 week wait before repeating a patch test. Longer gaps between sessions can lead to increased hair density and regrowth, meaning more treatments may be required.
No, using sunbeds is extremely dangerous while having laser hair removal treatments. You could burn your skin if you use sunbeds during the course of your treatments.
Yes, you can apply Fake Tan approximately 5 days after your session and use it in between sessions. It is extremely important that you don’t use any tan for 10 days before your treatment and ensure that you are exfoliating your skin daily to remove any residue. We cannot preform your treatment if there is any tan on the skin.
Shaving, waxing & exfoliation during treatment
No, shaving is the only method of hair removal recommended while having laser hair removal. It might effect the amount of hairs ready to take in each session.
Yes absolutely, you can shave as much as you like while having laser treatment.
Waxing or plucking removes hair from the follicle, and for the laser to be effective, hair must be present. After waxing or plucking, you'll need to wait 6-8 weeks for new hair to grow before treatment.
You can shave 3 days after treatment if desired. After laser hair removal, hair may appear darker and thicker as it enters the shedding stage. This is normal and indicates the hair has been targeted by the laser. It will shed within 10-21 days, leaving smoother skin. Shaving and regular exfoliation during this time can aid the shedding process.
It really depends on how sensitive your skin is after laser. It is considered safe to start lightly exfoliating about 3 days after your treatment. Exfoliating is a great way of preventing ingrown hairs in between sessions.
We recommend continuing laser treatment until you're satisfied with the reduction, as long as remaining hairs still contain pigment. The laser targets darker hairs, so lighter hairs will remain, and it’s fine to wax them.
If you are currently in a course of laser hair removal treatments please do not wax the area in between sessions as this will affect your results.
Medication and medical conditions
Please do not take Ibuprofen for 48 hours before your laser hair removal session, this medication may cause bruising after laser for certain people.
Ingrown Hairs
Light exfoliation helps, but if you're prone to ingrown hairs, consider using a product with active ingredients for chemical exfoliation. This is gentler than scrubbing and also helps fade red marks over time.
Light exfoliation should help but if you are prone to ingrown hairs it is worthwhile investing in a good product to help the skin chemically exfoliate (not meaning use of chemicals, but an active ingredient in the product) as opposed to mechanically (Scrubbing). This will also help the red marks to fade over time.
Getting the best results
Laser hair removal will work on light hairs that contain dark pigment, laser has no effect on light hairs that are blond, red, grey or white in colour as they don’t contain enough pigment for the laser to absorb into.
If you are thinking about laser and wax or use an epilator regularly we would recommended you stop waxing/epilating 4-6 weeks before your first laser hair removal session to ensure your follicles are full and you have enough hair to treat.
Ensure the treatment area is free from tan - real or otherwise and lightly exfoliate approx 5 days before your first session.
Do not apply any moisturiser, cream, oil or lotion to the treatment area, Aloe Vera is the only thing we would recommend if skin is irritated from shaving.
Close shave the area the night before and not the day of treatment, because when you shave you slightly exfoliate and irritate the area so allow the extra time overnight for the skin to regenerate and make treatment more comfortable. Shaving the day of your treatment will cause your skin to feel more sensitive throughout the treatment and may limit the amount of energy we can use due to skin sensitivity.
This is all down to the individual. Below is an average amount of laser sessions for someone who has pale skin, dark hair that is dense, has no underlying medical issues and attends for their sessions and top up sessions at the time frame given to them.

After these sessions have been completed maintenance sessions are required, most people will need an average of 2-3 maintenance sessions a year.
Laser hair removal can be life-changing for many, but results vary due to individual genetic factors. Several key elements affect how effective treatment will be and how many sessions are needed:
- Skin colour
- Hair colour and thickness
- Energy levels used (fluences)
- Timing between sessions
- Any underlying conditions
All of this is thoroughly explained during your consultation with our laser specialists.
After laser hair removal, your skin will be sensitive. To avoid irritation, please follow these guidelines:
- Avoid hot showers, baths, steam rooms, saunas, swimming, and exercise for 24–48 hours
- No exfoliation for 3–4 days; use only gentle methods afterward
- Avoid sunbeds and direct sun exposure on the treated area during your course
- Don’t use perfumed products or heavy creams for 48 hours
- Avoid tight clothing (e.g., skinny jeans or nylon tights) for 48 hours to prevent friction and heat buildup
Following these steps is essential to protect your skin and support healing.
Around 7–10 days after treatment, the treated hairs will begin to shed. Gently exfoliate 2–3 times a week using light to medium pressure—avoid aggressive scrubbing, which can irritate the skin. Exfoliating mitts and a mild scrub work well together. Always moisturise afterward to support skin recovery.
After completing a full course (typically 6–8 sessions), top-up treatments may be needed once or three times a year, depending on your initial hair growth, stress, hormones and medication factors. When the hair starts to get darker and you are shaving more often it is time to come back for a top up. We try to maintain the hairs at being fine, light, and slow to return.
Laser hair removal results in permanent reduction, though not 100% removal. Thick, coarse hair will become finer, lighter, and less dense over time. Some areas may clear completely, while others may have occasional light regrowth. Top-up treatments, usually once or twice a year, help maintain smooth results.
Comfort during treatment
Patch tests are done on the most sensitive part of the area to give an accurate feel for treatment. Settings are adjusted based on your sensitivity to ensure comfort. Our lasers include cooling systems to reduce discomfort, and most clients find the anticipation is worse than the treatment itself. The first few pulses may feel sharp, but it becomes more manageable as the session continues.
No you don’t have to, we just ask that you use a tampon if having your bikini area treated. You may be more sensitive but it is not necessary to cancel, it happens all the time and is not a problem.
Avoid strenuous exercise and swimming for 24 hours after laser hair removal. The heat from treatment combined with increased body temperature and sweat can irritate the skin. Chlorine in pools may also cause irritation during this time.
